In February, my host account for this website goes up for renewal and I will not be renewing.
It was a hard decision. We have made so many new friends through this blog- we connected with families adopting from China and were able to watch some of those family “unions” first hand.
We’ve also had the privilege of sharing our lives and our stories here- and we’ve connected with several new friends who have emailed and commented and kept in touch.
Out of respect for our daughters’ growing need for privacy, our family’s intended move into a new chapter of overseas living, and my personal transition from stay-at-home-mom to working mom… the time has come.
Most of our family and friends have found us on Facebook, so we are still connected, just in new ways.
I’m leaving this up until February when the host site will eventually close my account. I hope to get my act together and have a book made for Keith and I and the girls of this blog- it is a great ‘memoir’ of our time in China together.
Thank you to all of those who have read and shared and commented the past few years- and please don’t be a stranger!

I certainly understand your decision, but I will miss following your family’s life adventure. Thanks for your help when my daughter studied in China.

How terribly sad. Yours was my favorite, most anticipated daily read when you were actively blogging. Loved the stories of your day-to-day China life! Don’t do Facebook, so will miss your stories very much! Hope you return to blogging one day!

I will miss reading your blog, but I’m on Facebook, so I’m glad that I’ll still “see” you around! I totally understand your privacy concerns, and the need to simplify with your ongoing and upcoming transitions.

I am very sad to hear that, but I also understand it. I found your blog shortly after you arrived in China and have enjoyed reading about your adventures, and have learned an amazing amount about life in China from your posts.
November 4th, 2009 at 11:46 pm
I have thoroughly enjoyed your blog and learning about life in China — I’m going to miss it! You’ve shared such fun things (and no, I was never bored!), and I was always amazed about how life is in China — some place I can’t even imagine living. But I do understand . . . life gets busy, kids grow up, times change. I wish you and your family all the very best that life can bring!

I am going to miss reading about your adventures, also. I checked your blog first before any others each day. As I understand the need for privacy of your girls, I still will miss the updates on your fascinating moments in China and beyond!
Good luck to you and your wonderful family in your future ventures. I’ll look for you on Facebook!! Take care,

oh no! I was looking forward to hearing how you settle into your next place. I have so enjoyed this blog, it was so educational to get a peek at a different culture through your eyes. Good luck with everything.

Well, I’ll miss you in Blogland, but I completely understand. There is a season for everything, and the season for this blog is ending. I’ve enjoyed the ride, and thanks for sharing your lives with us!

I have been reading your blog since i found you on Splitcoast stampers before you even moved to China and have enjoyed your every post. I’m sad and will really miss your blog but understand your need to move on as your family grows and your life changes.
November 5th, 2009 at 4:53 am
Will miss your blog! But I completely understand. Somehow it has been comforting to me to have a glimpse into life in China while we endured a long wait for our second child from China. Wishing you all the best on your next adventure.

It’s been a joy reading this. Since my hubby no longer travels to the Far East (retired) I loved reading and seeing the beauty of it thru others eyes. I hope you can archive this site somewhere (maybe Google blog?) simply for the history of it. Others will discover your beautiful writings along the way. Safe landings whereever you go.

Been lovely to “meet” you on line, and follow your adventures.
Every time I use one of your fonts, I have a wee chat to Dad about you.
Wishing you every blessing to you and your family and your next chapter awaiting you.

Aww, man. I was so looking forward to reading about your adventures in S. Korea when this year is up. It’s been an interesting insight into your life in China so far and I’ll miss that. I hope you’ll reconsider someday and maybe try blogging again.
Best of luck!

As a mom of 2 daughters born in China , I’ve thouroughly enjoyed the view of Chinese life as you brought all of us. I too will be sad. HAve not searched you on FB since I felt that was too intrusive, but thanks for sharing your experiences for us to live vicariously through you!
Best to you and your family.

Thank you for a wonderful story to tell about a expat family!
To create your book, check out Blurb - I used it to create a family cookbook, but they also offer a variety of books that can be made, including creating one of blog entries.
Good luck to you and your family thru your life’s adventure!
November 5th, 2009 at 9:14 pm
I definitely understand, but hate to see your blog go. It was always a great read. I figured something was up when you didn’t update it much any more. I think making a book of the blog is a great idea!!! What a keepsake it will be!! See you on Facebook!!
November 5th, 2009 at 10:05 pm
welll i guess i should find you on FB then?
November 6th, 2009 at 12:04 am
Oh Kimberly, I sooooooo understand all your reasons, but need you to know how much I will miss you and this blog. I have a daughter adopted from China and have just loved learning not only about your family, but about life in China. I was looking forward to learning about S. Korea next. I will try to find you on facebook. I feel like I’m losing a friend. I’ve been reading and keeping up with your family since you moved to China. Your blog is the first one I check each day. I will think of you often, and wish you Godspeed as you enter a new chapter in your life. Thanks for allowing me the exreme pleasure of sharing your joys and hardships on this amazing journey to China.
You will be missed. God Bless you and your family!

God Bless you and your family as you continue to live and grow with each new turn in the road.

I’m sad to see these stories end. First it was SCS, now here.
The first time I read a post on SCS by you it was about the decision of pierced ears about 4 years ago. Crazy how time flies. Will look for you on FB
November 6th, 2009 at 7:41 am
I too totally understand your decision not to blog anymore but I will miss it immensely. I am also one who will never meet you in person but who has gained so much from “knowing you”. I will never get to China but in a small way I feel so much closer to China and it’s people because of you. I was hoping to gain some understanding about Korea and it’s people from you too. May God blessings be with you and your family and maybe someday we will “meet” again in this new world called cyberspace.

I sure hot to see this post. I have enjoyed following your journey. You write so well. I will continue to pray for your family in whatever is next on your path. Thank you for sharing this time with us.

Like the others, my daily blog hopping will be missing its first stop. I’ve lived vicariously through you since your move to China countdown and will really miss your blog. I guess I will have to find another overseas family to live vicariously through
But as He says, “there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity….a time to scatter stones and a time to gather…a time to embrace and a time to refrain…a time to be silent and a time to speak…”

While I definitely understand, I have to say that I am very sad about this. My girls have loved reading your blog with me and learning all about your girls and your life in China. They talk about China all the time. In fact, tonight we were talking about scorpions and my oldest said that she thinks there are lots of scorpions in China. You have become a part of our lives and we will miss reading your stories and adventures.
I have said it before, but if you are looking for some pen pals for your girls just let me know. Mine are 5 & 6 and they would love it.
November 7th, 2009 at 8:25 am
I almost forgot, good luck in all of your future endeavors.
November 7th, 2009 at 8:36 am
You have truely touched my life & given me new perspectives on so many things! I’m tearing up as I’m typing this.
Thank you for letting me into your life (good, bad, ugly, happy, every
changing…) the past few years & giving me a glimpse of life in China.
Goodbye - much love & preyers to you, your family, your current life & the next chapter to your life. Each time I think of China I will think of you & say a little prey of thanks & wonderful wishes!
I feel like there is more to say but can’t think of it - you really should put this into a book, you are a wonderful writer!

Oh, I will miss you so much. I wish all of you the best on the next part of you journey. You will brighten lives wherever you go. Be blessed.

Awwww….. I’m going to miss you!
I have enjoyed your blog so much! Getting to see and read about life in another country. A country that I know so little about. Just the day to day life of living there was such interesting information. I have enjoyed watching your family grow so I thank you for your wonderful writings!! Good luck on your upcoming venture and I hope you will give somemore thought to continuing a blog in your new country. I will miss you and good luck.

November 10th, 2009 at 1:26 am
Oh I will miss your blog!! Have followed you ever since you were on SCS. I am too old I feel for facebook but will have one of my grown children check your site every so often. I have had the privilege of visiting China but saw it from a completely different view through your eyes. Thank you for everything you shared about your family (going to miss those pictures of the girls!) and your adopted country. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:03 pm

We’ve never met and I don’t think I have ever commented, but I will miss you very much. Thank you for sharing so much of your experience. It’s been an education for all of us lucky enough to have found you. You’ve been an inspiration to me, as a mother and with your relationship with Dad. Tell Emily to post about you ocassionally please.
Best of luck to you and your family. I know Dad will continue to keep you and bless you.

I am very sad that we won’t get this regular visit with you. It was a highlight and I felt that it kept me connected to you…though there was no way for you to feel the same about us. I certainly understand the need to simplify/prioritize/focus. Love you all heaps and can’t wait to hear more about your saga, somehow, someday.

thanks for your cheerful honesty - may you’all thrive in your next assignment!
with my prayers,
