The water park (as in a park with water - a lake - not a water slide park- but the name in Chinese is literally water park) recently was renovated and re-opened, offering wide walking paths and gorgeous scenic views along with *free* entrance (it was formerly about $7/person).
This Saturday, it was sunny & 75 degrees out so we headed to the park. I am not kidding here… I swear we were joined by approximately 250,000 of our closest friends. That would be closest friends as in close proximity… as in touching. As in, we had to stand in line to walk on those walking paths and shuffle along with the mass. It was pretty out, but not very photogenic due to the mass of people between us and the nature/scenery. So, if you’ll forgive me for no photos, I’ll share my hot tip with you. Avoid the water park on beautiful Saturdays. That’s my hot tip. Seriously, you *will* regret it.
Kate was begging for “just a little haircut” so I finally gave her one today. I cut off about 4″ from each girl’s hair. I’m just hoping for less tangles in the morning!

Eliza aged again overnight. I swear, she’s grown up so much in her face this year it kinda freaks me out!

Kate wouldn’t cooperate for a “sisterly love” photo, so I recruited Keith. Sorry, he’s out of focus in this one, but I loved it too much not to share it!

Another scarily-old photo of E below. Of course, her “dangly earrings” she steals from me do help age her!

I often tease the kids about all kinds of things. They ask what’s for dinner and I say something completely vile like “Barf on a Bun” or “Spew-ghetti”. Charming, right? I usually follow it up by asking “do you think that’s true or not true?” and they squeal “NOT true!”. The downside of this is that they don’t always believe me when I tell them things that sound a little wacky or crazy.
Today, I was explaining to Kate that the new Hello Kitty lunchbox can’t go in the microwave or her face will melt. She cracked me up by responding “Is that for real life, mommy?”

Adorable pictures….love the haircuts. Eliza looks so grown-up, even from when she was here in early July. The wall behind Keith and Kate looks periwinkle in the photo…just the lighting. Joking and teasing is fun and I know the one thing that you always share as “real life, mommy”; Dad’s love for the girls and for all those masses of your ‘closest friends’. Have a great evening/night’s rest before another school Monday.

LOL! Too funny about the *is that for real life Mommy?*
Even better - Alex asks me to blog his creations for him. Nice.

Did you take four inches off of Keith too? He looks a bit different.
What cute photos of the girls. And yes, I remember the ‘walking’ paths when we visited the water park in Changsha, quite the day for crowds. I do that all the time with the kids too, tell them we’re having rocks and worms for dinner. . . sometimes that makes the truth a bit harder to discern.

hehe
Our teases around here are to tell the kids we’re getting Liver & Onions when one of us runs out for pizza or some fast food or something. And I like to be all serious when they ask what i’m cooking/whats for dinner and tell them, Dogs brains & Cats paws. Or Monkey brains. Or Pigs Feet. You know, anything they really think they don’t want to eat. Gets giggles
The girls are beautiful, SO grown up looking !
