Marvelous Monday!

Monday, April 30th, 2007

A little funny.

What does a skunk use to call his other skunky friends?

His smellular phone.

Okay, c’mon I said it was little, I didn’t promise a big laugh!

We are one step closer to closing! They actually have the appropriate papers at the loan office now and we *should* close tomorrow. I’m um, not holding my breath? It seriously isn’t that big of a deal to us what date we close, we just want to make sure that we *do* close! :) It will work out, no worries!

Here’s a silly scrap for today- loved this challenge- the little things that make up our personality and make us who we are!

Those pics are off our webcam, the night we were trying to figure out how it worked! So, do you know me?

Okay we have not had a Movie Monday in awhile….

I hope that works- it is a Saturday Night Live skit and I seriously laughed so hard- I think you have to be a parent who has experienced the torture that is Dora the Explorer to truly appreciate this– there is only one teeeeny bad word and it is censored.

Have a fabulous day!

Katie, the eating machine…

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

Today, our group had a dinner to raise $ for some teens who will be heading to Zambia for some short-term work there this summer.   They had a spaghetti dinner- and anyone who knows our kids knows that they can seriously chow down on food.  And Katie and spaghetti (nice, long noodles too!) is just a special treat.

She stuck her face about an inch from the plate and SLURPED the noodles by the mouthful.  Barely breathing between bites, she hovered over the plate and shoveled it in.  It was hilarious and we had a few people stop and comment on her eating habits.

I’ve actually been scrapping all week, but they’re all for creative team assignments and I can’t load them up till she gets the stuff in the store on Thursday.   I think I have 4 pages “waiting” right now!

I do, however, have a continuation of yesterday’s runny nose comment by Katie….  her allergies are all outta whack, so she’s a bit of a mess (note the crazy hair)…

katie1.jpgkatie2.jpg

I’m sorry, they’re a tad graphic, huh?  I do have to scrap those though, sorry!!  She’s soooo cute and funny, even when she’s being grody!   Oh, and no need to send a Walmart giftcard– we do OWN and USE kleenex quite regularly!  ;)

Keith is relishing the Mavs playoffs.   And we are gearing up to head over to my sister’s house to help her kids initiate their new pool (it’s just a blow up one, don’t get excited).  Libby’s been begging for some water-fun.  She’s a little fish and would gladly live at the local water park if given the chance!  Katie, on the other hand, pretty much hates anything to do with water.

Have a fun day!

Welcome Baby Lauren!

Saturday, April 28th, 2007

Our dear friends Kim & Scott welcomed their 3rd daughter into the world last night with the homebirth of sweet Lauren… isn’t she adorable??

Congratulations Kim & Scott!  She is soooo cute!

I headed up to my sister Emily’s North Texas stamp day that she hosted this year.  Two years ago, she & I hosted one and now that I’ve stopped stamping, she has taken over the event- 45 ladies gathered today for a full day of stamping and food and friends- so fun!   It was good to see some old friends & connect again!

Today Keith told Katie to get a tissue and wipe her nose and said “No, I lick it!”  Eww.  Let’s hope she outgrows that before she is old enough to start dating ;).

New kid toys…

Friday, April 27th, 2007

Well, so far, we haven’t closed on our house today (it is 5:25 p.m.)

The only hang-up is something extremely minor, and we feel very bad for the buyer because she wanted to move in tomorrow and has already booked a mover. I wish I could make it happen for her sake alone! For us, yes, we would love to get the $ and such, but it isn’t nearly as big of a deal on our end.

Last night our van died. It wouldn’t start, unless we jumped it. Each time we could jump it and then it would drive just fine, but as soon as we stopped and parked and tried to restart, it wouldn’t work. So we took it to Midas and dropped it off last night (at like midnight at the night drop). This morning, Midas went out to fix it and it started fine. And it is fine now. I guess between midnight and 10 a.m. it was miraculously healed. Thanks Dad! Didn’t even ask for it, but we’ll take it!

Katie has a new favorite toy there. Yep, her carseat! She buckled herself in, so I thought, alrighty, time for mama to take a nap ;). Why is a carseat so intriguing? No idea, but any place that she chooses to lock herself into and sit still, hey, it’s my fave!

Alright, we are out the door to a little going away party with our home team from our group! :) We will miss all of them dearly!

P.S. do I look like I have a mustache in those pics? I hereby promise I do NOT have a mustache!!!!

not quite yet… maybe tomorrow ;)

We had a little glitch with the papers not getting to the title company, so no closing yet.  Not a biggie.  Keith took the day off, so we just took the kiddies to preschool and hung out… nice to just relax.

Here’s a littel page of the girls and their teachers and their school friends–I love Mindy T’s little animals that she draws!!  So cute!  I can only draw like a stick figure and that’s about it!

Sorry for being the world’s dorkiest bloggers lately.  We promise that in 12 1/2 weeks we will have more exciting things to talk about! :)

We close tomorrow! :)

In 29 minutes it will be Closing Day!  Woohoo!

Here’s a little scrap of Katie and Grandma Cindy tonight.    They’re so sweet together!

Oh, and I should probably mention that some more of my fonts are up on dafont.com if you wanted them– you can get them here.

Big praise!

Libby’s teacher had a clean scan and is in remission from her lung & liver cancer!  Such a wonderful piece of news to get today!  We’re so excited for her!  Libby has been talking to Dad every day about this for the past 7 months or so and now Katie talks to Dad about it before bed as well.    We are thrilled for her and will continue to think of her often as she regains her immune system & just gets stronger all-over.

Thank you for thinking of her over the past months!  It means a lot to us!

No pics, no pages today!  I did get a little back in the swing of things and did a Chinese lesson again.  I had actually missed them- a little liǎng zhī xié does the spirit some good!  (that’s um, 2 shoes, sorry, just a random little bit of the lesson I’m translating!

Queue Rocky theme song…

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

Yeah, we’re so muscular and strong.  Actually, that would be the issue.  We’re more Blobby than Rocky.

In an effort to train ourselves for China, we’re taking advantage of my dad’s flight of stairs (we didn’t have any stairs at our “old” house) and running up and down them repeatedly to build some stamina.  Sadly, so far, all I’ve done is prove to myself just how much I need the training!

Libby had a rough morning, wanted to wear long pants but I didn’t have any clean.  She melted down and after a good half hour I finally got her to sit in my lap and cry vs. sitting on the floor screaming hysterically.   We talked about changes and the things we miss about the old house and the things we like about being at Grandpa Bill’s and the things we’re looking forward to in China.   She seems a little better this afternoon, I think she just needed to get it all out…

No scrappin’.  No new pics.  I crashed with the girls during nap today!  It was much-needed!

We fly out 13 weeks from today!  And we head out to Indiana in 6 weeks!  Time is a’flyin’!

all moved in!

Saturday, April 21st, 2007

We are all moved into my (Kimberly’s) dad’s house!

The kids are sharing the toy room and Keith and I have a bedroom and we share a bathroom between the 4 of us– it is a pretty sweet little arrangement! Definitely better than being banished to a hotel room or something for 6 weeks!

I think we had the world’s shortest move- just a few miles and we didn’t even have enough stuff to fill the 10 foot uhaul. That includes the 3 beds we moved! That’s a good sign that we are downsizing as we need to be!

The girls are a little hyper from the move- so many new and exciting things. It is 9:30 and they’re both still wide awake and wanting to jump and play. I’m sure in a few days they’ll be more settled!

Keith just ran out for a celebratory frozen custard for the 2 of us. Yum! We’re even closer to Mimi’s- I think this is dangerous!

Here’s a couple pages I made yesterday– I spent some time scrapping/vegging after getting almost everything packed.

042007kimmyg2share.jpg

The second one was scrapped during a moment of motherly *blah*.  I never know if I should share the honestly-journaled pages so openly- but you know what?  I think we hide under these “ohh, life is blissful and sweet and my kids are delightful cherubs and we just smile all day long” fake clouds of saccharin.    So let’s just be real for a second….

042007kimmyg3share1.jpg

Have a great weekend!  We’re heading out to talk with a special group tomorrow morning- my sister & dad’s group that they attend.  Should be fun!

Almost moving day!

Friday, April 20th, 2007

We move out tomorrow.

Packing, sorting, delivering stuff.  That has been life for the past few days!  It will all be SO very worth it though!

I took a few minutes during lunch to get this story on “paper”.  This story is from yesterday…. Katie-katie-katie-girl, she is a trip sometimes!!!

042007kimmyg1share.jpg

Okay, packin’ not slackin’!  Hopefully we will be all comfy and cozy in our home away from home tomorrow! :)
